Research & Development

Continuous innovation is an essential requirement for the expansion and achievement of global technological leadership. Know-how alliances and research cooperation with renowned partners such as the Fraunhofer Institute, ARC Seibersdorf Research, the Montanuniversität Leoben, the Technical University of Vienna and private companies form the foundation.

In steel-glass technology, it is usually the demanding ideas of customers or architects that provide the impetus for new developments. The worldwide first use of glass needles as support elements, the use of borosilicate glass for portals with heights up to 3.4 meters or the development of a complex steel knot were all developed by Waagner-Biro engineers.

150 years of innovative bridge construction history is being continued with the Waagner-Biro panel bridges. The results of investigations by the Technical University of Vienna and the experience gained from practical applications have been invested directly into further development and enable a significantly expanded application area for civil and military purposes.
