    The Big Festival House was opened in July 1960 with the performance "Der Rosenkavalier" under the baton of Herbert von Karajan. 

    For the new building of the Salzburg Festival House Waagner-Biro Stage Systems designed, supplied and erected the complete stage equipment and all steel structures within the stage house with a total weight of approximately 1900 tons.
